LATENESS TO CHURCH IS DISRESPECT TO CHRIST

1 In some churches i have attended across the years, I love to observe things for some few minutes before concentrating on my business there. It is good to do this to understand where you are and see human nature acting out. These are observations God has made me to see across the years.

  1. MOST HUSBANDS AND WIVES DON’T SIT TOGETHER. WHY?

I am not saying this is a sin, i just wonder why. I noticed that in some homes, some husbands and wives quarrel on their ways to the church. Some had theirs at home on Sunday morning. In their cars to the church, they dont talk. So why would they sit together?

Some few Sundays ago in a church, a lady i know so well sat before me as she came in and dropped her Bible by the empty seat besides her. I knew she was reserving the seat for her husband.

When the man walked in, she motioned him to sit next to her. I could see the man giving her a terrible look and went to sit elsewhere. Immediately, i walked to the man. Before he knew it, i picked his Bible, held his hand and said “Follow me, sir.” Straight to the empty seat by his wife. “Your wife reserved this seat for you. Make her happy.” The man busted into laughter. The wife looked at me with gratitude in her eyes. They talked briefly as i walked to my seat.

After the service, the woman came to thank me, saying her husband was keeping malice with her since Saturday, and he was talking to her for the first time since then. Praise God.

  1. IF YOUR SPIRIT DOES NOT WORSHIP IN THE CHURCH, LEAVE THE CHURCH. NO BE BY FORCE.

I have seen people who speak negatively about their churches, their pastors and even so many of their members. Some people go to church for side comments. They come to criticise. They have one thousand and one points against the church. Then why do you still go there?

Look, EVERY church has its own challenge. As long as the church is made up of humans, it must have its own challenge. No church is perfect. If you are a professional fault finder and you have constant reasons to criticise and criticise and criticise a church, if you cannot speak up to the church leaders on your observations, leave the church and go elsewhere rather than fall into sin. I beg.

  1. FROM BEER PALOUR TO THE CHURCH

Recently at a vigil in a Church, a man who stood next to me was reeking of alcohol. Oh my God! you know we guys smell after some bottles! It was like this guy was bathed in beer! I felt very angry and my mind was beginning to condemn him. I caught myself immediately.

I remember that i was once like him. From beer parlour to Church. No one EVER condemned me. God did not. He tolerated me. Some people must have also perceived the beer odour on me. Some people could have prayed for me. Must we sit In judgment on anybody? God might not be interested in that guy’s fault. He might be interested in what he will become in the church tomorrow. Gideon was hiding in a cave as a timid man. God saw him as a mighty man of valour!

I am not saying we should condone excesses in churches, but let us be careful how we judge people with our self-righteousness. Through out the vigil, the guy, reeking with alcohol was on his kneels praying. Me, wondering why must he come to church. Wetin be my own, i beg. Na me be God?

  1. RESPECT THE USHERS… SIT WHERE THEY TELL YOU TO SIT!

I am often amazed at the recalcitrance of some people, especially women (No pun intended pls) When Church Ushers motion them to sit somewhere, according to how they come in, they insist on sitting where they like. This is the spirit of rebellion.

If you cant obey the ushers, you have engaged in act one scene one of rebellion in church. Better go back home and purge yourself of the spirit.

The Ushers are duly and spiritually mandated to control some things in Church. You have no right to disobey them. To disobey them is to disobey the Church rules and you know you are disobeying God. If you are one of them, purge yourself today.

… to be continued.
