Jimmy Odukoya, son of late pastors Bimbo and Taiwo Odukoya, a Nigerian actor, motivational speaker, preacher and musician has been elected the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church.
His election by the Board of Trustees of the church came a few days after his father, Pastor Taiwo passed on recently in the United States of America and given a befitting burial by the Church.
The announcement of his election was made at the Sunday service of the Church by one of the trustees who came on the altar after a prayer session.
According to Board Member, the spiritual grandfather of the Church, Bishop Mike Okonkwo reached out to the G7, Board of Trustees, thanking them for giving a befitting burial to the Pastor and asked for the succession plans.’
He added that though Pastor Taiwo did not make any open declaration on who succeeds him but he left word with some three people.
The Board had a meeting and prayerfully made decisions in line with the constitution of the Church.
Pastor Jimmy was subsequently nominated and the Trustees unanimously elected Pastor Jimmy as the Senior Pastor and Chairman Board of Trustees of The Fountain of Life Church. His installation would be made September 30, 2023.
The announcement received a round of applause by the congregation, as Jimmy approached the altar haven been invited to the microphone.
Responding to the announcement, Jimmy thanked the church, saying the church has been through winds and storms but is still standing firm. A lion, he said does not give birth to a goat. The Holy Spirit is the pastor of the Church and out of their bellies shall flow the fountain of living waters.
He thanked the board for harkening to the voice of his father, explaining how his father chose him to continue with the work.
According to him, he was with his father recently, sitting at the foot of his bed when suddenly he raised his hands and said to him, this is your story now.
For me, Jimmy said, my first reaction was… I don’t know what you are talking about. Your story has not ended. You still have a lot of story left. But in the spirit, I know what he was saying.
And so, Fountain, (as the Church call themselves) I want to say this is our story now. The Bible says the later shall be greater than the former.
Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard. It has not entered to into the ears of man what God shall do from glory to glory to glory.
The new Senior Pastor of the Church further announced his younger sister, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun as the associate pastor of the Church, saying both of them would do the journey together.
The arrival of Jimmy Odukoya as the Senior Pastor holds a big promise, not only for the Church but for the Church of the younger generation of Nigeria.
Having an actor and an Oral Roberts University trained pastor leading a big Church like The Fountain of Life is a foretaste and escalation of dramatic changes the 21st Century Church would witness.
