The former Vice President of Nigeria and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has joined millions of Nigerians to mourn the painful, sudden and shocking death of celebrated Gospel Music artistes, Sammie Okposo who passed on early hours of Friday after a brief illness.

In his public statement, Atiku described the untimely death of the “Wellu Wellu” master as a big shock to him. “The news of the death of Sammie Okposo today came to me as a rude shock”, he said.

“Sammie was full of life, distinguished himself in the entertainment industry, and, by extension, gave his best to bring smiles to our people”, he added.

“On behalf of my family and team, I extend my deepest condolences to Sammie’s immediate family, friends and the fraternity of gospel artists. I pray that God will grant his soul eternal rest”, Nigeria’s former number two concluded.

Trace Gospel Television in her condolences released today said: ” The body of Christ in Nigeria is in grief
Sammie Okposo, a Nigerian Gospel artist and music producer has passed away. He was 51 years old. May his soul rest in peace”

Actress Empress Njama wrote on her Instagram: ” “Sammie why, why. Answers me. This cut is too DEEP. So many questions that need answers ” Commedienne Lepacious Bose posted on Instagram: ” No! Nooo! I refuse to accept this report. Lord please no” Comedian Woli Arole said: ” Make Fashek’s producer, Pastor Amos McRoy, “It is so sad. This a black Friday”, in their condolences to Okposo family.

Meanwhile, late Sammie Okposo’s Family has released a public statement to officially confirm his demise and notified the public that they have commenced arrangements to give him a befitting burial.

The statement released on Friday was signed by Hector Okposo, a member of the Okposo family.

The public statement reads: “It is with a heavy heard but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, Minister of God, Sammie Okposo. Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022. More details about the burial will be communicated soon.

“We are consoled because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels. We kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”

Sammie Okposo who died at 51 years old, was born on May 30th 1971. He was a multiple award winning Nigeria Gospel artiste with international acclaim. He was an ace producer, multi- instrumentalist, sound track producer, songwriter and Choir and Music Director of note. He has won so many prestigious awards around the World. Okposo made his epochal debut in 2000, with his debut album, “Unconditional Love”, the album contained the smash hit single “Wellu Wellu'”, a trailblazing anthem in Gospel Worldwide.
