Bishop Tony Marioghae, President of the TEAM organization in the Philippines, has officially unveiled the Daniel Marioghae Foundation in memory of his late father, Barrister (Chief) Daniel Arowaru Marioghae, a pioneering figure in Nigeria’s legal and political history.

Hon. Daniel Marioghae with Governor Samuel Ogbemudia in the 1970s.

Speaking about his inspiration, Bishop Marioghae said the foundation was born out of a vision to build a just and productive society where law, order, and opportunity form the backbone of national prosperity. “The moral, political, and economic prosperity of any nation firmly relies on law and order. Without justice, society risks disintegration,” he noted.

The foundation honours the remarkable legacy of his father, who was born on July 5, 1932, and passed away on October 8, 2007. A man of faith, integrity, and courage, Daniel Marioghae rose to prominence as a lawyer, businessman, public servant, philanthropist, and human rights advocate in the Niger Delta.

His tenure as Chairman of Isoko Local Council earned him recognition as Best Local Government Chairman under the administration of General Samuel Ogbemudia, the then Military Governor of the Mid-West State (now Edo and Delta).

Mission and Impact

The Daniel Marioghae Foundation focuses on empowering widows, orphans, students, and underprivileged communities through education, livelihood programs, grants, scholarships, and financial incentives. Recently, the foundation donated millions of naira worth of books to the Faculty of Law at Delta State University, reaffirming its commitment to advancing legal excellence in Nigeria.

Bishop Marioghae revealed that the foundation aims to impact over one million lives in the next 5 to 10 years, with particular emphasis on the most vulnerable members of society.

Challenges and Call for Support

Like many nonprofit initiatives, the foundation faces challenges in resources and manpower. Bishop Marioghae appealed for support, noting: “We urgently need more donors and dedicated volunteers from across the nation. Your support can help us make a real difference and drive our objectives forward.”

While the foundation operates independently of the TEAM organization, members and supporters are invited to contribute voluntarily. Partnerships and collaborations with individuals and organizations are also welcomed.

Sustaining a Legacy

Hon. Daniel Marioghae, then the Isoko Local Council Chairman welcoming the military governor Governor Samuel Ogbemudia on separate occasions to Isoko for the commissioning of major projects.

The long-term sustainability of the foundation is anchored on the commitment of the Marioghae family, its Board of Directors, and friends of the late Chief Marioghae, who are determined to keep his legacy alive.

Bishop Marioghae emphasized that his father’s compassion and philanthropy inspired him to continue serving humanity:
“My father was a devoted philanthropist whose compassion transformed countless lives for the better. Inspired by his legacy, I am determined to carry forward his mission across the nation, ensuring that every Nigerian can experience the profound grace, love, and kindness that God has to offer through this foundation.”

With its clear vision, impactful mission, and ambitious goals, the Daniel Marioghae Foundation is set to become a beacon of hope for countless Nigerians in the years to come.
