HAPPY FAMILY CITY … Africa’s first Christian hometown
An interview with Bishop Charles Ighele
Happy Family City is a place of beauty where many children of God, who do not desire to go back to their original villages or home towns, will have another town they can also regard as their home town. Happy Family City is being built after the pattern of some residential parts of Los Angeles and Houston in the United States married to the best of African culture.
The city will also contain the proposed Sharon University of Agriculture and Rural Development. The food processing section of the university has started production. A lot of family fun facilities where couples can enjoy their old ages in peaceful and prosperous looking environment are being made available.
Happy Family City is not an estate. It is a new city being built through private initiative. Any land owner or house owner in Happy Family City will see the town either as their only known home town or an alternate home town or a home away from home.
Inhabitants will have a sense of ownership. The family recreational facilities that will be dotted all over the city will be second to none in Nigeria. Children, young people, the elderly and whole families will have fun on a regular basis. Those who know me know that l like to have fun and also provide much fun for my family and families generally. The city will also have its own high quality Christian cemetery. It can therefore not be compared with any estate. It is a home town.
Apart from about ten highly placed Christian couples who have gotten their land in Happy Family City, a great majority of initial land owners belong to the economically and socially marginalised educated middle class.
With the quality standard of living that the new town will provide, the social status of residents of the city will greatly enhanced. They will be happy and will thank God for being a part of showing forth the praises of God who called us out of darkness into the beauty of life even with middle class financial resources.
The Christian slant about the new town is to let the world know that despite the dirty mud being thrown at Christianity due the bad behaviour of some Church leaders and members, there are some that can still be trusted to do the will of God planet earth. We are honest.
Work has started in the city. The first set of residents should move in about two years from now. Visit to the location can easily be arranged with the project officers.
