Crackdown on Errant Preachers
Bishop Oke emphasized that the PFN will no longer tolerate church leaders who deviate from the core doctrines of the fellowship. He acknowledged concerns about certain preachers promoting messages contrary to biblical teachings and warned that the PFN would take a firm stance on them.
“We are aware of the strange messages being preached by some pastors online. We are aware of those who are erring in doctrine. We are going to begin the PFN revalidation exercise during which we will take a position on these preachers. We will take steps to deal with them to protect the name of our fellowship,” he stated.
Concerns Over Educational Policies in the North
Bishop Oke also criticized the decision of some northern governors to close schools during Ramadan, describing the move as anti-progress.
“The education of our wards is fundamental to the protection of our nation. The idea of closing schools down because of religious celebrations is inimical to our progress. Those who brought the religion to us in Nigeria do not close their schools for fasting. We should not be more Catholic than the Pope,” he said, urging the governors to reconsider their stance.
Addressing Leadership Election Concerns
Reflecting on the recent PFN leadership elections, Bishop Oke acknowledged the media speculations surrounding the process, stating that such controversies were unprecedented in the fellowship’s 40-year history. However, he reassured members that the situation was handled maturely by the National Advisory Council (NAC).
“We are a body of spiritually mature, disciplined, and distinguished people. We do not fight press wars; we fight on our knees before God, and we always win,” he declared, praising the founding fathers for their wisdom in resolving the situation.
Vision for the Second Term
Bishop Oke outlined his administration’s vision, emphasizing unity, revival, and the continuation of PFN’s biblical foundations. He pledged to integrate the next generation of spiritual leaders across all levels of the fellowship while upholding the values of the founding fathers.
“We will intentionally open our doors wide to bring in the next generation of spiritual leaders in every state of the federation. We will honour our founding fathers and stand for the biblical values and ethos they faithfully upheld,” he said.
Furthermore, he reiterated PFN’s commitment to national transformation, pledging to contribute to Nigeria’s economic prosperity, promote political education among members, and advocate for the election of God-fearing leaders.
“Nigeria shall prosper greatly through the mercy of God,” he affirmed, adding that PFN would remain visible and relevant in all spheres of national life.
Commitment to National Unity and Prosperity
Bishop Oke reassured Nigerian leaders of the PFN’s support in building a united and prosperous nation.
“We will pray, speak, and work against all vices, crimes, violence, and evils in our society, asking the Lord to eliminate them from our nation, so we may all live ‘a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty’ as directed in the Scriptures,” he stated.
He concluded by expressing gratitude for God’s blessings over the past 40 years and the foundations laid by past PFN administrations.
“May God continue to bless the PFN and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he prayed.
