E. Kayode Adesogan retired as Professor of Chemistry at the University of Ibadan in January 2005. He is currently the Head, Department of Chemical Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State.
For almost five decades, he was privileged to see God at work in many areas of life at Ibadan University both as a student and as a member of staff. He was the first President of the Ibadan Varsity Christian Union (IVCU), the Chairman of the Chapel of the Resurrection at a period when the Chapel was faced with many serious challenges. Several Christian initiatives were taken at the University of Ibadan at various times by Professor Adesogan and his colleagues for the improvement of that Institution.
He was once the National Chairman of Scripture Union (Nigeria), at another time the Chairinan, the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES) and past and present Chairman of several other Christian bodies. He is still active in counselling, and preaching the Gospel of Christ to fellowships and churches. He has currently developed more than a passing interest in village evangelism.
|FAITH, POLITICS AND CHALLENGE
Faith, Politics and Challenges (A Christian s First-hand Account) is a logical development upon Christian Discipleship. A good Christian should know where he is coming from, be familiar with his evolving environment, be hopeful where he is heading and why. This book is a great guide from Prof. Kayode Adesogan. Much of the ignorance about’ the Chapel of the
The book does not attempt to lay claim to providing a recipe for having a perfect home. The author does not have one in any case! What it seeks to do is to discuss in practical terms how Christian couples can harness that which God has given them and, with God’s special blessing, set their feet on a new path of renewal in love and devotion to each other and their home. The book like its predecessor, Friendship, Courtship and Christian Marriage, to which this is a companion, is written primarily with the African Christian in mind. While it is true that a number of concepts in it will be appreciated essentially only by” Africans who have lived in Africa and non-Africans who have lived for a long time in the continent, it is equally true that most of the ideas therein are universal and should find relevance to all races.
|FRIENDSHIP, COURTSHIP & CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
This book is written for young unmarried Christians who are honest seekers after pleasing God in all they do in life – those who particularly want to have homes where they and their spouses will share lives which daily glorify Christ.
To this end they take marriage seriously and desire to follow Biblical Christian norms in making their choices of a life partner.
The earlier editions of this book had been very warmly received across the country. This third edition has retained most of what was in the second edition. Two major concepts have been introduced in an attempt to make it more relevant to 21 st century Christians without diluting the Christian demands: things which have to do
|WALKING WITH GOD
Having walked with God for over six decades, Professor Adesogan certainly has had an experiential knowledge of God. Each chapter features a distinct but significant stage of the continuum of the journey of life, revealing the author’s gradual but steady and progressive growth and dependence on God, and God’s tender care and mercy for His own until this point in his life. The entire book is inundated with captivating and inspiring anecdotes, vividly and lucidly illustrating the spiritual truths being expressed. The ultimate purpose of this book is evangelical. It should evoke in the Christian the determination to remain focused on God, seeing Him above all human circumstances and situations in life, and so continuing to move in the direction of God’s predetermined destiny for His children.
The very important subject of CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP will inevitably remain alive until our Lord’s second coming. Rather than destroy it, violent persecution and incessant harassment of the Church have stimulated it. So central is it to the accomplishment of God’s plan for man’s redemption by Christ that it featured
Character building starts from infancy, and continues through the early adolescent days to the teenage years until adulthood. When a person is in his twenties, most of his character is already formed. We cannot therefore wait until adult life before trying to change, for the better, the way a person will behave.
