The 1981 set of Timi Agbale Grammar School made a historic reunion with great enthusiasm and hope as they gathered at De Mask Lounge, Ibadan, on Saturday to formally inaugurate their set and elect its leadership. under the chairmanship of an ex-banker and a chattered account, Deacon Remi Okunola FCA.

Members began arriving as early as noon, greeting and embracing each other, celebrating their survival through these challenging times. The joy of reuniting was palpable.

During the meeting, Deacon Remi Okunola FCA was endorsed as the chairman of the set, with Elder Isiaka Ojediran as Vice Chairman, Mrs. Bunmi Adeniyi (née Faleye) as Secretary, Mrs. Stella Igunbor (née Mensah) as Financial Secretary/Treasurer, and Alhaji Hakeem Nasiru, based in the US, serving as coordinator for the diaspora.

Elder Tajudeen Adebakin FCA, also a patron of the national body, and Dr. Demola Durojaiye, a school proprietor in Ibadan, were endorsed as advisers.

In his speech, Dr. Bola Adewara, the National President of the alumni and a member of the 1981 set, expressed his happiness in coordinating the 1981 set from its inception.

He also serves as the coordinator of the alumni in Lagos and the National President.

Adewara emphasized his joy at the formal establishment of the 1981 set’s executives and praised the caliber of the people involved.

He prayed for patience, wisdom, and understanding for the new leaders, urging all members to support the executives to meet and exceed expectations.

In his acceptance speech, Deacon Remi Okunola FCA expressed his honor at being entrusted with the leadership role and promised to provide resilient leadership.

He highlighted the achievements of the 1981 set within the larger alumni framework, noting their active participation in the formation of the National alumni, contributions to national programs, donations, and awards.

He asserted that the 1981 set is the foundation of the alumni and deserves recognition.

The event at the Ibadan reunion was professionally emceed by Elder Michael Olasupo. Throughout the program, members who couldn’t attend called in to apologize for their absence and encourage the new executives to lead with integrity and candor.

Among those who called or sent goodwill messages were Elder Solomon Igor, Madam Nurat Owolabi, Funke Akande, Bose Idowu, and Olumide Jones.

The closing prayer was led by Elder Michael Olasupo, and the reunion concluded with refreshments, as attendees gradually dispersed around 4 PM.
