Lagos, Nigeria – The Grace Family Church, Ikeja, recently held a groundbreaking men’s conference titled Supernatural Mandate for the Men’s Fellowship, hosted by the Senior Pastor, Yinka Ojo. The event brought together men from diverse backgrounds to rediscover their divine purpose and commitment to godly leadership. Speakers at the conference were Dr. Bola Adewara, editor Elife Magazine and presenter of Mentoring Masterclass, Pastor Kenny Ajibade, a motivational speaker in Port Hacourt and Pastor Yinka Ojo, the host himself.  In an exclusive interview with Elife, Pastor Ojo shared deep insights on the significance of the theme and the call to men in Nigeria.

Why the Theme ‘Supernatural Mandate’?

Pastor Ojo explained that the term Mandate is derived from two words: Man and Date, symbolizing God’s continual appointment with men throughout history. He drew parallels from the book of Genesis, where God consistently sought fellowship with Adam in the cool of the day. According to him, the conference was designed as a sacred moment for men to encounter God intimately and receive divine instructions for living.

“‘Mandate’ signifies an official order or commission to do something. Every man carries a divine assignment from heaven—a supernatural calling to represent God on earth in a specific way. We believe that this conference will awaken men to discover their unique place and grace in fulfilling God’s purpose,” he noted.

Understanding the Supernatural Mandate

Expounding further, Pastor Ojo emphasized that men carry a unique, God-ordained responsibility that has been evident from the beginning of creation. He highlighted biblical patterns where God’s dealings often started with men—Adam being the first human, Jesus Christ coming in male form, and all the original apostles of Christ being male.

“This is not about superiority but about responsibility. The duty to cultivate and preserve Eden was entrusted to Adam, which is why his name was called after the Fall. Even in the New Testament, the weight of sin is attributed to Adam rather than Eve (Romans 5:14, 1 Corinthians 15:22). Through Christ, men must rediscover their divine roles and function as responsible servant leaders,” Pastor Ojo stated.

A Call to Men in Nigeria

Addressing the state of manhood in Nigeria, Pastor Ojo issued a clarion call for men to rise and embrace their God-given roles. He stressed that being a man is not merely a matter of biology but a responsibility to lead with integrity, compassion, and accountability.

“It is time to step up. A nation transforms when its men choose to be godly. True manliness is not defined by physical attributes but by Christlikeness. A man’s character is revealed in how he treats the most vulnerable in society—women, children, and the elderly. Unfortunately, some cultural norms in Nigeria have nearly deified the male gender, removing a sense of accountability. This must change.”

Pastor Ojo further pointed out a sobering reality: “More men sin than women. If you doubt it, compare the size of the male and female sections of Kirikiri Prison. The numbers speak for themselves. It is time for men to ‘man up,’ set exemplary standards, and lead with a servant’s heart.”

The Way Forward

In his closing remarks, Pastor Ojo expressed his desire to see more men’s ministries rise across Nigeria, equipping men to be real, godly leaders in their homes and communities. He called on churches and Christian organizations to invest in mentoring and training men for responsible leadership.

“My prayer is that more men’s ministries will arise in our land to teach men how to be real men indeed,” he concluded.

The Supernatural Mandate for Men’s Fellowship conference left a lasting impact, inspiring men to pursue their divine assignments with renewed vigor and a heart of service. The resounding message remains clear: men are called to be servant leaders, reflecting Christ in their homes, workplaces, and society at large.
