The National Association of Heads of Bible Schools and Seminaries (NAHOBSAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bishop (Prof.) Bada Funso as its new President.
A distinguished theologian, academician and General Overseer of Epic International Church, Prof. Funso brings a wealth of experience and expertise as the former General Secretary of the association and provost of EPIC Seminary and College to guide NAHOBSAS in its mission to advance theological education and promote excellence in biblical studies.
Prof. Funso’s appointment comes at a crucial time for NAHOBSAS, as the organisation plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of theological education across the nation.
With a solid commitment to fostering academic excellence, Prof. Funso is well-positioned to lead NAHOBSAS into a new era of growth and innovation.
Speaking to the press after his appointment was announced, Funso said, “I am deeply honoured and excited to take on the role of President at the National Association of Bible Schools and Seminaries.
I am committed to working collaboratively with the new executives and our member institutions to ensure that NAHOBSAS remains a beacon of excellence in theological education.
Together, we will empower and equip the next generation of leaders for the challenges and opportunities in ministry.”
The members of the new national officers announced are Archbishop (Prof) Matthew. A. Bilewu as Deputy President, Bishop (Prof) Clement I. Ojo as General Secretary, and Prof Solomon. O. Akinlabi as Asst. Gen Secretary. Others are Dr Timothy. A . Agbe as the National treasurer, Dr Bola Adewara as Publicity secretary and Dr (Mrs) Maltilda Olaore as the Financial Secretary.
An Advisory Board was also constituted, and the members are Prof Charles Ohiku, Prof Idowu Faith and Prof Joseph Ogungbagbe.
The association created new provinces with officers assigned to manage them to mobilise new members and administrative conveniences effectively. In addition to the existing state chapters, Lagos State and the adjoining towns in Ogun State are divided into four provinces.
Each province and chapter is to be headed by a Chairman to be assisted by a secretary as the Principal officers who are automatically part of the National officers. Each province or state chapter is to elect other officers to run the province/state chapter effectively.
The four provinces were divided along 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
Prof S. O. Akinlabi will lead the Oyo State chapter, while the Ogun State chapter is headed by Pastor (Dr) Emmanuel Alege and Pastor Peter Amao as the Secretary-General.
The four provinces in Lagos would be headed by Prof Jacob Adeyemi, Prof Lawal, Apostle (Dr) Daniel and Prof Emmanuel Adekola. Also, Dr Taiwo Adeyemi and Prof E. O. Fashae will lead the adjoining cities around Lagos like Mowe, Ibafo, Akute, etc. The new executives of the provinces are to have their first meeting on January 24, 2024.
NAHOBSAS thanks the outgoing President, Prof Charles Ohiku and executives for their dedicated service and looks forward to a seamless transition under Prof. Funso’s capable leadership.
