An epoch event it was on Saturday, June 19th, 2021 when generals of the Pentecostal Christian faith gathered at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria to raise fund to give a befitting secretariat to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Lagos State.

At the event, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry was praised to the high heavens for his generosity towards the dream of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Lagos state in having a permanent secretariat by donating N200million to the organisation.

Pentecostal Christians who heard of the news when it broke said it was so kind of him to solely do that and not be waiting for other members to contribute first before he did.

A few years ago, the Lagos fellowship suffered a tragic loss but heaven’s gain when the then Chairman, Bishop Sola Ore went to be with the Lord. Ore’s era was the glowing period that laid the egg that has now hatched into a permanent secretariat.

Speaking to E-life at the event, a Lagos PFN insider said the issue of a permanent secretariat has been on the lips of past leaders such as Bishop Lanre Obembe, Pastor Wale Adefarasin, and Apostle Alexander Bamgbola.

‘All this era, according to the source, ‘saw the secretariat moving from one church to the other, in a state with the highest population of Pentecostal Christians.

When Bishop Ore came in, it was paramount in his agenda. He discussed this with his executive which included the current Chairman, Apostle Eyinnaya Okwuonu, (then his vice), and a host of others.

‘They prayed about it and resolved to start discussing it with people. A casual discussion of this with a father in the land, Rev. Williams Folorunso Kumuyi yielded a promise of N200 million from the Deeper Christian Life Ministry which was fulfilled pronto, the source said.

Programme to actualise the secretariat had a setback when Bishop Sola Ore passed on. But he had able lieutenants in Apostle Okwuonu whose team got a place around Ikorodu Road in central mainland Lagos.

In his speech, the Chairman of Lagos PFN, Apostle Eyinnaya Okwuonu said Kumuyi’s giving was an overwhelming generosity for which the PFN is grateful.

He rationalised that the fundraising is most necessary because the building acquired will need renovation and reconstruction to fit into the hub of service and ministry envisioned for it.

‘’The secretariat will serve as a rallying point, a reminder of our common heritage, a place of ministry and activities to coordinate our fellowship and its many ministries.

It is more than just a building, it will serve as a reflection of our resolve to serve all believers of the Pentecostal movement especially in Lagos and Nigeria at large.”

At the fundraising was the National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Wale Oke who had earlier visited the secretariat with the Lagos executive.

Oke, who spoke glowingly about the donor, Pastor WF Kumuyi, said few people could do what Kumuyi did and his act of giving has gone up as a memorial before God.

The fundraising committee was chaired by Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, assisted by Archbishop Elect, Dr. Isaac Idahosa. The event was attended by notable preachers in Lagos like Dr. John Aire of Wonder of God Church, Dr. (Mrs.) Janet Onaolapo of Abundant Life Gospel Church, Mrs. Phillis Goodey, and Pastor Ladi Thompson.

Others at the event were Moses Elebute, Rev. Toyin Kehinde, Apostle Tom Samson, Bishop Glory Akpabio, former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and a host of other preachers in Lagos.
