There are several lessons the Church can learn from the world. When you keenly observe what is happening in 0ur world today, you will agree with Jesus that the children of darkness are wiser than the children of light. You might ask for an explanation. This is it:

There are two systems on Earth – the world system and God’s system – which operate entirely differently. Jesus told us that the children of this world are wiser than the children of light. This means they understand how to get ahead, survive, and do things within their system. In contrast, God’s children are unaware and don’t fully use the opportunities available in their system.

The children of light have God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. We have the Bible and all the wisdom therein. Jesus told us everything is ours and everything is ready for us. How come we are still the victims of life? How come the children of darkness survive, keep their friendship and make hay when the children of light act like mumu, as we say in Nigeria?

Below are some analogies on how the children of darkness keep their soldiers and how the children of light kill theirs.

BEER PARLOUR:

1. When a guy wants to leave the beer parlour and go home, his mates will encourage him to stay and enjoy the more. They will say, Bola, take one for the road. Immediately he sits, and the binge continues.lessons the Church can learn from the world

2. When a guy has no money to buy beer and stays at home, his mates would call him and promise to buy him a bottle. “Come over, boy! Come mayan (drink) your sorrows away!” Pronto, he goes there.

3. When one of them says he wants to accept Christ and stop keeping the company of his friends, they will go to him and laugh him to scorn, assuring him he will return in no time. True and true, he would return in no time.
LESSON:
Beer mates don’t abandon their ‘fallen’ mates. They encourage one another to remain together.

PROSTITUTES:

When Olosho (a prostitute) says she is not doing the job again, her old customers would still go to her and tempt her with big money. She will acquiesce and say, well, she is doing this for the last time o. Na lie. She is still in the trade.
LESSON:
Olosho don’t leave easily, except God wants to save her.

SOLDIERS ON WAR FRONTS

1. When a soldier on the war front gets shot, his mates would quickly cover up and rally to carry him to the medicos for treatment.

2. Even when a soldier is killed on the war front, his mates will do all they can to retrieve his body and take him home for proper burial with honour.
LESSON:
Soldiers don’t abandon their fallen mates!

THE CHURCH

1. When a deacon is caught drinking beer, church members will rise against him, judge him and condemn him as the worst sinner!

2. When a choir girl is caught dating a sugar daddy, she is ridiculed and expelled until she fully returns to the world. No member would encourage her to return to the choir as the guys in the beer parlour.

3. If a pastor is caught in error, he is finished. He would be demonised. His close pastoral friends will stop associating with him. His PA would be the first to gossip about him. Journalists will feast on him. The Church will go empty in no time. lessons the Church can learn from the world

Church members would say he has been doing it since. Elders would remember his errors in the university. Women leaders will say he has a premarital child. He is a divorcee. He was not even properly divorced. The associate pastor will say he preaches prosperity all the time. He made a third-class degree. He became a pastor because he was sacked from his former office.

LESSON:
The world would rally around its fallen soldiers. I wonder why many Christians expose, ridicule, pummel and kill their fallen soldiers. Tell me, how have you helped fallen Christians get back on their feet?
