RAINFALL IS NOT ENOUGH TO STOP THE FELLOWSHIP OF A SERIOUS CHRISTIAN
By Bola Adewara

When rain started Sunday morning, an usher whispered to me that Churches would be half empty today. I asked why? He said the rain would stop members from coming. Rubbish, I responded. Rainfall is not enough to stop the Sunday fellowship of a serious Christian.

“If those people staying back at home were told that someone is sharing some good money to every Church member, rain or no rain, distance or no distance, the Church will fill up in no time!”

The problem with Christians, sorry, I mean Church goers is that they, they don’t trust God that blessings would follow their service. They believe they are doing pastors a world of good by coming to Church. Until Church goers see Christianity as a personal race to be ran with fear and trembling, Churches would be empty on rainy days.

Church goers see fellowshipping in Churches on Sundays as a mere meeting or socialisation that can be done away with at will. They don’t see Christianity as their own race. The same thing with tithe and offering: many Church goers believe they are doing Church big favour by giving it.

If they were told that the tithe and offering given here on earth would be their feeding allowance in heaven, you will see how Church goers would be bringing big big money to Churches every Sunday. They have a reason for giving.

The problem with our attitude to Sunday services or the things of God emanates from preachers making it look like if members don’t come, God is in trouble. They tend to woo members to church with gimmicks as if their presence would upgrade the godship of God. As if when they don’t come, God would stop being God.

There was a pastor who was holding a crusade and was begging a famous gospel musician to come or even allow them use her picture on the Billboard and flyers of the crusade.

I asked him why was he begging the musician? Is the musician relevant when he has choir in his Church who could minister in good gospel songs? He said the name and picture of the musician would bring crowd and the bigger the crowd, the bigger the money so they can pay back people who gave them loan to stage the crusade!

See wahala! Must Churches go to this level? Must we engage in gimmicks to woo people to attend crusade for salvation? No wonder Church goers now see coming to Vhurch as another way to please pastors. No wonder when rain falls, they stay back at home. Church no be by force!

Come quick, Jesus!
