Jesus of Nazareth has arrived in Jerusalem from Bethany Thursday morning in what is widely thought as a countdown to his arrest and trials this evening, and crucifixion Friday morning.
The son of Joseph, a carpenter in Nazareth is in the black book of the state, the high priests and scribes of the Temple in Jerusalem. He is likely to be arrested Thursday night by the Directorate of Security Service (DSS) to be led by Rabbi Caiaphas. According to reports reaching E-life, arrangements have been concluded to get him tried overnight and crucified first thing Friday morning.
It is not immediately clear why Jesus of Nazareth is been sought for but grapevine sources claim that has been a pain in the neck of Jerusalemites. ‘He claims to be the very Jewish messiah prophesied in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), known as the Old Testament in the Bible of Christians’.
Other allegations against Jesus, according to sources are that he was a perverter of the Jewish nation; he deceived the people and incited them to rebellion, he taught the people to refuse to pay tribute to Caesar, and that, by claiming to be a king and the founder of a new sort of kingdom, he incited treason against the emperor. For these reasons, the scribes and High priests seek to put him to death after a trial overnight.
Speaking to Bola Adewara, editor E-life in Jerusalem today, on the last week of Jesus, Mr. Bartholomew, aka Mr Barth, one of Jesus’ disciples said, on Monday, Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem, a development now known as his “Triumphal entry,” fulfilling the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9.
‘As we followed Him, the people praised Him despite His humble entrance. Our Master then led us to the Temple where we prayed before we returned to Bethany.’
‘On Tuesday’, Mr. Barth continued, ‘on our way from Bethany to Jerusalem, we came across a fig tree. Master was hungry and expected it to have fruits. Not finding any on it, He cursed the tree and then led us straight to the temple where we found people selling. Master would not accept this abomination. He got a good koboko and whipped them silly, threw their wares out, not minding whose ox is gored. Later in the evening, we returned to Bethany to rest.’
Mr. Barth added that they returned to Jerusalem again Wednesday morning and on their way, they saw the cursed fig tree withered, and Jesus taught them the importance of their faith. That morning, according to Mr. Barth, they all followed their Master to Bethany to see a friend of our ministry, Simon the Leper.
‘While there, Mary anointed Master’s head and feet with costly oil of spikenard and Master said she was “preparing him for burial”. We don’t exactly know what burial He was talking about. However, as usual, a great crowd came to Bethany to see us and Jesus spoke to them all, sharing words of hope and life.’
‘Upon our arrival at the Temple in Jerusalem, Jesus’ authority was questioned by the religious leaders. But that did not stop us from going to Mt Olives that afternoon. There, Master taught us in parables and spoke about the signs of the end of the age. He told us about destruction, wars, and persecution to come, and also shared the hope of His return.’
Intermeddling in the interview, Peter, the leader of the 12 said, ‘One curious thing about Master is His parabolical speeches. He said that in two days He would be crucified at the time of the Passover. Who would kill Him? Who is bold enough to arrest Him in my presence? We die here!’ Peter dipped his hand into his trousers and brought out a dagger. ‘I carry this dagger on me 247. I was at the market yesterday to sharpen it. No one dares arrest Jesus in my presence.’
Speaking on their activities on Thursday, John, the brother of James said they were prepared for the Passover feast where their Master is expected to share His heartfelt words with them and interceded on their behalf.
Eavesdropping on Jesus discussions with John, one of His favourite disciples, Jesus hinted Him that tonight, He would overrule the Passover feast with the Lord’s Supper.
The supper is the breaking and eating of bread to symbolize Christ’s body broken for mankind and drinking wine to remember the blood He would shed in less than 24 hours. Jesus also hinted John that after the meal, they would move to the Garden of Gethsemane where He would be in agony, awaiting what is to befall Him.
The latest Information reaching E-life is that one of Jesus disciple, Mr. Judas Iscariot was seen by our correspondent at the Temple, discussing with some Jewish police and a detachment of Roman soldiers.
He was also sighted yesterday discussing with Caiaphas one of the high priests after which he was seen at a bureau de change with dollars.
E-life will bring you blow by blow account of whatever happens to Jesus of Nazareth in the coming days.
